We begin the week, Sunday, August 1st, with a Grand Fire Trine between the Sun/Mercury conjunction, ChironRx, and JunoRx/South Node. This Fire Trine is promoting individual healing and moving beyond limited ideas to consider new ways of thinking. Each one of us is encouraged to evaluate our intimate relationships and consider how well we are communicating and being vulnerable with others.
Connected to the Sun/Mercury conjunction, which is going exact on Sunday, August 1st, is a T-Square to Uranus which will be an influential part of the New Moon in Leo on the 8th. This T-Square tension for growth energy encourages us to individuate and to creatively self-express without the exaggerated need for approval from others. We are also encouraged to break free from strict obedience to authority and to express ourselves authentically and courageously.
On Monday, August 2nd, the planetesimal Juno goes direct. We are motivated to take the wisdom gleaned from our time introspecting about our relationships and move that into positive action.
Finally, on Sunday, August 8th we have our Uranian infused New Moon in Leo. The square between the luminaries and Uranus motivates each one of us to authentically express ourselves and consider the level of courage we have to express freely and honestly. The Yod to Mercury with NeptuneRx and PlutoRx, challenges us to view the world realistically and evaluate whether the new structures of regulations are integral to individual freedom and the right to express.

We begin the week, Sunday, August 1st, with a Grand Fire Trine between Sun/Mercury conjunction, ChironRx in Aries, and JunoRx/South Node conjunct in Sagittarius. This Grand Fire Trine stays in tact all week and is part of the New Moon in Leo on August 8th, albeit with less exactness. Mercury will eventually move further away from the Sun whilst the Moon will move into eventual conjunction with the Leo Sun.
The Mercury-Chiron trine goes exact on Monday. The Sun-Chiron Trine goes exact on Wednesday.
Connected to the Grand Fire trine is the Sun-Mercury conjunction opposing Saturn in Aquarius going exact on Sunday, August 1. This is forming a T-Square to Uranus. This opposition stays intact throughout the week. The Sun-Uranus Square gets increasingly stronger and will go exact on Friday, August 6th, two days before the New Moon. So, this New Moon is going to be a very Uranian infused New Moon with Uranus square the luminaries.
Sun/Mercury Opposing Saturn
Sun/Mercury conjunction opposing Saturn in Aquarius is about the inner courage to individuate and to creatively self-express without the exaggerated need for approval from others and breaking through strict obedience to authority. Each one of us are encouraged to evaluate whether or not we are expressing ourselves authentically and courageously.
One energetic example of this oppositional dynamic can be about relinquishing the despotic control of media propaganda and governmental dominance (Saturn in Aquarius) over our perceptions, decision making, and freedom to express (Sun/Mercury conjunction in Leo).
An example that stands out for me lately has been in the news concerning the debate over governmental regulations being put into place to mitigate suspected disinformation in social media. Saturn represents boundaries and governmental organizations and regulations. Aquarius can be equated to social media and internet technologies. There is concern that these regulations may censor free speech and, as such, be impeding the first amendment right to freedom of speech, freedom to express (Sun/Mercury in Leo). Saturn in Aquarius is bringing issues around authority over expression, command over freedom, rule over individual sovereignty.
T-Square to Uranus
Since the beginning of 2021, the Saturn-Uranus square has brought up the evolving regulations around information sharing on social media. The last time Saturn-Uranus squared in 1999-2000 when the internet and web went mainstream from its inception in 1950s. Presently, the medium of social media has become a primary means of politicalization (Saturn in Aquarius). The challenge here with this T-Square is to create reasonable regulations that protect our amendment rights, allowing the heterogeneity of information available on social media sites.
On a personal level, it is about each one of us differentiating our beliefs, creative impulses, and desire to express without worrying about the judgment or limitations from others. This takes a very Leo type of courage to be who you truly are in the world.
Grand Fire Trine
The Grand Fire Trine is connected to this T-Square energy promoting individual healing (Chiron in Aries) and moving beyond our limiting ideas and idealistic ideologues (South Node in Sagitarrius) to consider new ways of thinking (North Node in Gemini). With JunoRx conjunct the South Node, each one of us is encouraged to evaluate how we are engaging in our most intimate relationships. What are the narratives we are telling ourselves about our relationship to others? How am I communicating with others? Sagittarius and Gemini are the Axis of Insight/Perception/Dialectic. It’s all about communication and perceptions. Am I able to communicate honestly and vulnerably? Is the narrative based in truth? Sagittarius is about truth.
Juno is also about protecting the state. Juno is the latin equivalent to Hera which was the wife of Zeus. Zeus was the chief god of the Olympians. So, Juno along side Jupiter (AKA Zeus) protected the state.
With Juno sextile Saturn in Aquarius (a part of the T-Square to Uranus), what is brought up is the importance of a structured state for healthy social functioning so long the governance is based in truth (Juno in Sagittarius) and integrity (Saturn in Aquarius). The goal is to negotiate the need for structure without stifling the intrinsic individual right to freedom and sovereignty. Aquarius and Sagittarius are both about truth, truth saying, and freedom. Saturn represent structures and rules. Juno in Sagittarius promotes protecting truth notwithstanding governmental structures.

On Sunday, August 8th, we have our New Moon in Leo at 16 degrees and 14 minutes. So, as we can see, the Grand Fire Trine and the T-Square to Uranus remain intact. The square between the luminaries and Uranus is much stronger. The Uranus archetype is really communicating to our sense of self (Sun) and our souls (Moon) here.
Uranus symbolically represents “spirit working through matter to unite the two poles of consciousness.” It’s about the individuation process, becoming authentically who you are in the world and having the courage to express yourself honestly and freely. And that is being impeded with the Saturn in Aquarius opposition.
An example is the government swaying social media to thwart or abridge the freedom of speech or press. Some protest that we are endangered by disinformation and that it needs to be extracted to protect the public. Disinformation may be an issue. No one is contending that. But, if by governmental authority truth is defined to us by it, we lose freedom to think for ourselves and give sway to something outside of our own initiative to tell us what truth is. This is what the archetype of Uranus is, to protect truth, our freedom to chose for ourselves (Sun) and for our own innate soul (Moon), our course of action based on all available knowledge and information and to make the choice for ourselves. This is not a political issue per se, but an issue of intrinsic individual sovereignty for which each one of us are born into.
So this New Moon in Leo (the Lioness of Courage to Express), is a new beginning that is encouraging each one of us to think about our individual place in the world and our ability to freely express and to think about our unique level of courage and ability to express authentically.
Yod to Mercury between NeptuneRx and PlutoRx
Another component to this New Moon in Leo is Mercury quincunx to Neptune which goes exact the day before on Saturday the 7th. There is a Yod to Mercury with NeptuneRx and PlutoRx sextile.
Yod’s are the most challenging configurations because, unlike oppositions and squares, the signs that the planets are in have nothing fundamentally in common to communicate in which to create relief or resolution of the challenging tension. The only thing we can do is humbly compromise (waxing quincunx) or surrender (waning quincunx). The Yod energy requires us to move forward through the challenge via transcendence rather than resolution per se.
Yod’s are formed when two planets in sextile both form a quincunx to a focal planet. The focal planet here is Mercury. It indicates where we are encouraged to grow. In this case to express authentically. The two planets in sextile (NeptuneRx and PlutoRx) show what areas need compromise and where we need to surrender.
Mercury-Pluto Waning Quincunx
Mercury in Leo desires the ability to creatively and authentically express and communicate. This is being oppressed with new structures being put into place (Pluto in Capricorn).
Pluto in Capricorn is highly significant (especially with the USA having its Pluto Return in 2022) because it is forcing a deep evaluation of social structures and their integrity. Society has been through so much transformation and challenge due to the pandemic causing economic insecurity and putting new restriction into place in our daily lives. This is incredibly incompatible energy here with Mercury in Leo.
The new system(s) of regulation that being put into place will eventually collapse if those system(s) prove not integral to the foundations of freedom for which America was formed in the first place.
Mercury rules Gemini. Currently the North Node resides in Gemini. This indicates the collective growth directive. North Node in Gemini symbolizes our ability to evaluate all sources of knowledge and information, to express varying points of view, and the ability to have healthy dialectic of thought and communication.
Mercury-NeptuneRx Waxing Quincunx
Mercury-NeptuneRx quincunx is indicating the challenge to remember the source from which we came. We are born of spirit into the physical world. The physical world is a temporary class room. We need to remember our divine right for individual sovereignty and to remember that ultimately we’re here to learn compassion and love.
Mercury-Eris Trine
Also connected to this Yod is Mercury trine Eris. This is significant because Eris in Aries is squaring Pluto in Capricorn (2018-2022). This square exemplifies the necessity sometimes for chaos and discord in order to break free of corruption. Pluto in Capricorn is going to transform and bring into light whether or not these social structures are integral. If there is corruption, Eris in Aries will create discord and chaos to bring back equilibrium.
With Mercury in Leo trine Eris in Aries, we are encouraged to initiate change via courage and steadiness of heart.
