May Weekly Forecast 24th - 30th

Updated: May 26, 2021

On Wednesday, May 26th, we begin the week with our first eclipse of the season. It is a powerful eclipse for three reasons which I discuss in the forecast. This Full Supermoon Total Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius puts us on the right path awakening our perceptions encouraging us to be more open-minded and open to change. It challenges each one of us to stretch our perspectives to greater horizon to see varying points of views. We are invited to seek the truth without polarization, but instead in a wholistic and interpolative state of mind. Depending on where this Lunar Eclipse Full Moon falls in your chart, in some area of your life your perspective will be challenged to grow.

Finally, on Saturday, May 29th, Mercury Retrogrades at 24 degrees of Gemini inviting us to be more mentally flexible, introspective, and patient. As technology malfunctions, appointments may be delayed, or other slight mishaps occur, we are persuading to look deeper into ourselves for contentment, constraint, and delay gratification, this teaching us to trust the flow of life.

5/26 Full Supermoon Total Lunar Eclipse at 5 degrees 26 minutes of Sagittarius

5/29 Mercury Retrograde

May 26th, 2021 - Wednesday

  • 4:14am PST Full Supermoon Total Lunar Eclipse at 5 degrees and 26 minutes of Sagittarius [Blood Moon]

May 26th, 2021 Full Supermoon Total Lunar Eclipse at 5 degrees and 26 minutes of Sagittarius at 4:14am PST (5 degree difference between lunar nodes and luminaries). This is part of the Lunar Saros series 121 eclipses that began in 1047 CE and that will end in 2508 CE [Lunar Saros 121]. The most recent lunar eclipse that occurred connected to this series was on May 16, 2003. The following eclipse occurring in this series will be on June 5, 2039. All eclipses in this series occur on the Moon’s descending node (South Node). This eclipse is visible in Australia, parts of the western US, western South America, and in South-East Asia.

This is our first eclipse of the year, the first of four. We can have up to seven eclipses in a year. This year we have a small reprieve from last years intensity having the minimum of four.

Eclipses occur in pairs. The next eclipse occurring in this pairing will be on June 10th. It will be a New Moon Annular Solar Eclipse at 19 degrees and 47 minutes of Gemini.

Three Reasons this Eclipse is so Powerful

  • It is a Total Lunar Eclipse which means the Moon is completely covered by the Earth’s Shadow [Blood Moon]

  • This is the second of three Perigean Moon’s [Supermoon] this year which means the Moon is at closest proximity to Earth making the Moon’s pull at its strongest

  • In order for a Lunar eclipse to occur, the Luminaries (Sun and Moon) must be within at least 12 degrees from the Lunar Nodes. The closer the Luminaries are to the Nodes, the more powerful the eclipse. This eclipse is 5 degrees apart which is very significant.

Importance of Eclipses

  • Eclipses occur when the luminaries are within a particular distance from the Lunar Nodes. The Lunar Nodes represent our collective and individual path of evolution, our karmic destiny. When we have a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse, our collective and individual paths of destiny are illuminated and intensified.

  • So eclipses are very important times for aligning ourselves with our true path, collectively and individually. It can be a time of great spiritual and psychological evolution and growth.

The Meaning of the Moon in Sagittarius

  • Axis of Insight (Gemini-Sagittarius): Gathering information from all perspectives (Gemini) vs integrating information into a cohesive philosophy and world view (Sagittarius).

  • When out of balance on the Sagittarius end individuals and groups can become dogmatic and ideological, not considering other available perspectives of information [close minded and opinionated].

  • When out of balance on the Gemini end individuals and groups are overwhelmed with so much information that they are incapable of forming a cohesive viewpoint or philosophical stance [difficulty discerning truth, confusion, and overwhelm].

  • This Full Moon Lunar Eclipse is about awakening our perceptions in ways that develop open-mindedness and critical evaluation helping us move away from polarization, idealism, and ideologues.

  • Depending on where the Moon falls in your chart, somewhere in your life experience, your worldview and mental flexibility is likely to be challenged, your perspective will be stretched to greater horizon to see varying points of views. There will be perspective testing.

The Goals of this Eclipse

  • Evolve ideas and identity

  • Be mentally flexible

  • Open your mind

  • See beyond “it’s this way or that way” thinking

  • Heighten spiritual perception

  • To become more aware and knowledgable of the “life of eternal mystery.”

  • 3:34pm PST Mercury Retrograde at 24 degrees and 43 minutes of Gemini. Mercury will go direct on June 22nd at 16 degrees and 8 minutes of Gemini

Retrograde Shadow Dates

The retrograde shadow is the period before and after the retrograde when Mercury revisits the degrees covered during the retrograde. During the shadow period its influence is often felt more intense.

May 14th - May 28th: Pre-retrograde shadow Mercury at 16 degrees of Gemini - 24 degrees of Gemini.

June 23rd - July 7th: Post-retrograde shadow Mercury at 16 degrees of Gemini - 24 degrees of Gemini.

  • The ancient symbolism of Mercury ☿ is hermaphroditic, androgynous, signifying the process of Universal Consciousness learning from opposites, spirit learning through physical manifestation, in order to discover and learn balanced, reflective, and flexible thought. It represents Universal Consciousness learning from the polarity of the yin/yang principles. The hermaphroditic nature of Mercury comes from its symbolic combination of the masculine (Yang) and feminine (Yin) principles.

  • Planets represent psychological operations within the structure of the psyche. Mercury is the Wayfinder, a psychopomp, he can move between the ectopsychic and the endopsychic realms of the consciousness.

  • As such, Mercury symbolizes an inclination to comprehend paradox, learn from yang/yin, explicate/implicate, masculine/feminine, ectopsychic/endopsychic, the known/unknown, etc.

  • During Mercury retrogrades technology can malfunction, appointments may be delayed, and other slight mishaps may occur. But these mishaps create events that are outside of our control persuade us to look deeper into ourselves for contentment, to be patient with constraints, delay gratification, and it teaches us to trust the flow of life. It teaches us to go inward, from the material to the spirit.

  • With Mercury in Gemini going retrograde, our minds have the opportunity to open ourselves to flexibility of perception and inner self-reflection.

  • It is a good time for introspection, slowing down, being patient, and letting go of control.

  • Some activities that we all may want to engage in at this time would be to meditate, daydream, go for a long walk, or work on projects that we’ve been procrastinating on.
